In Case You Forgot, You Are A Badass
I think we can all agree this year has been a crazy one, right? For me personally, it’s been a year filled with lots of change and emotional highs and lows. There were so many days I definitely did not feel like a badass. During these times there were several places I found solace: my support system of friends and family, yoga, and reading.
I would call to catch up with friends and usually discover they were struggling with similar feelings too #quarterlifecrisis. When a sweet friend shared this book with me he had no idea how much I would relate and feel empowered by the author’s words. This book has helped me in so many ways and I wanted to share some of the takeaways I gained. Because with everything going on in the world, who doesn’t need a little encouragement these days?
Most people are living in an illusion based on someone else’s beliefs.
Here is my takeaway from that: Do something that scares you. Just do it!!! Yes it’s scary to make changes and challenge yourself but you know what’s even more scary? A life filled with regret. No one lies on their death bed thinking I wish I had played it safe. No they think I wish I had done more, I wish I had tried harder and taken more risks. Stop waiting and do it. Instead of tomorrow or next year do it today.
Other topics Jen Sincero talks about:
- Forgiveness (Others and most importantly yourself)
- Getting over fear and self doubt
- Gratitude
- Letting go of self perception and making way for self love
- Meditation and so many more nuggets of awesomeness
What the world needs now is love. And that starts with self love.
Imagine what our world would be like if everyone loved themselves so much that they weren’t threatened by other people’s opinions or skin colors, or sexual preferences or talents or education or possessions or lack of possessions or religious beliefs or customs or their general tendency to just be whoever the hell they are.
I agree with Jen, that’s the kind of world I want to live in. And it starts with each of us.
You’re on a journey with no defined beginning, middle or end. There are no wrong twists and turns. There is just being. And your job is to be as you as you can be. This is why you’re here. To shy away from who you truly are would leave the world you-less. You are the only you there is and ever will be. I repeat, you are the only you there is and ever will be. Do not deny the world its one and only chance to bask in your brilliance.
Trust your journey. Theres no way I could include all the pearls of wisdom and humor this book contains in just one post. So here is the last thing I’ll say; no matter what you are currently going through this book has something for you. If you flip it open and read only a few pages I promise you will be reminded of what a badass you truly are.
