Exploring Atlanta // Take a hike at Sweetwater Creek

Do you ever just want to get outside and be adventurous (and no, I’m not talking about getting drunk on patios).  Which I do love to do too!

I’m talking about hiking, paddle boarding and kayaking. There’s a gem of a spot outside of Atlanta in Lithia Springs called Sweetwater Creek State Park. It has an old factory mill at the park and you may recognize it from the movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. You can make an afternoon of it. There are different trails depending on your expertise but it’s a good work out on a hot, sunny day in Georgia. Start with hiking & exploring and then you can cool off in the water.

There is a Park Office where you can rent kayaks, canoes, and SUPs for a reasonable price and then you can just cruise around the lake and be all “outdoorsy”, you know. Check out this article by Caroline Cox to get the full details and some history behind Sweetwater Creek.

Get outside and enjoy the sun (and humidity if you live in the South)!  What are your favorite
hiking trails or favorite outdoor activity? Let us know below, no matter where you live.
