I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of skipping a lunch or dinner every now. We simply don’t have enough time to grab something and that deadline is right around the corner! If you’re like me in these situations, I reach for the Snickers bar or the leftover cake from Suzzie co-workers birthday… which was last week! (I swear it was delicious… I mean it was chocolate) Duh!
I’m usually pretty good at planning and I try to always take the ‘healthy’ route.
But, let’s be honest, when your co-workers or friends are diving into Mexican burritos for lunch, it’s hard to resist. Meanwhile, around 3pm, I’ve consumed my calorie count for the day, I’m now craving a cookie or a candy bar and am also in need of a 3 hour nap! I recently discovered Healthy Choice Simply Cafe Steamers and it was a game changer!
I have to be honest here, I typically don’t reach for the frozen food, for fear of zero flavor and little nutritional value. But these meals pack the punch and taste delicious!
The Simply varieties are part of the brand’s Café Steamers line, the first and only meals featuring a tray-in-tray steam cooking method that separates ingredients during heating to unlock freshness you can see and taste. The Healthy Choice Simply Café Steamers line contains nearly a dozen meals, all with less than 310 calories and more than 18 grams of 100-percent natural protein in a variety of flavors.
Unlike other frozen meals, Healthy Choice Café Steamers’ feature a unique tray-in-tray steam cooking method that delivers fresh-tasting meals with crisp vegetables and juicy proteins. It also gives you the chance to be a part of the culinary experience as you pour your own sauce, determining how much or how little flavor you want with your meal.
I mean take their Chicken & Veggie Stir Fry, for example, with 100% natural chicken breast and loaded with good for you veggies. This bad boy only clocks in at 190 calories with 22g of protein, check please!
Say goodbye to that burrito crash with their Southwestern Style Chicken, with 100% natural chicken, black beans & corn smothered in a delicious enchilada sauce. All for only 200 calories and bringing in a hearty 23g of protein. Drop and give me… err, at least my trainer would be proud!
For less than $4 and cooking time under 6 minutes it’s so nice to have a healthy option available for lunch or dinner.
These are also a great way to stay on track and maintain and healthy meal plan during the week.
So, now that we’ve gotten our veggies and protein in for under 310 calories, maybe we’ve earned that slice of chocolate cake after all! (wink)
Happy, Healthy Eating!
