Our Stay at Honua Kai Resort & Spa at Kaanapali Beach in Maui
I’ve never been to Hawaii before so I was super stoked to vacation in Maui this year! I’ve been dying to go to Hawaii! So many islands, so little time! We even got to check out The Big Island during our trip but more on that later! We stayed at Honua Kai Resort & Spa at Kaanapali Beach in Maui and loved it! Check out our review below!

Hotel + Room
First off, right when you walk in the hotel you see straight through to the pools and beach. It’s breathtaking. Not only that but the view is unobstructed because of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The doors to the beach and the doors to the front of the hotel lobby stay open so there is this draft and wind circling the hotel lobby that is amazing. There is infused water upon arrival and valet is available. You can’t help but smile right when you step out of your car. The hibiscus flowers are everywhere and gorgeous! They are one of my favorite flowers! So tropical!
The rooms are huge! Like huuuuuge! You can tell they were recently renovated and updated. Each suite has an open floor plan that includes these huge floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors that open up to your own private lanai. We kept ours open most of our stay because they extend the indoor-outdoor living space and open up to amazing views! The sliding glass doors open up through the entire suite so your bedrooms can be completely open also! The open floor plan made the space feel even bigger.
We had a two-bedroom suite with living space, dining room, full kitchen with bar seating area, and laundry room. The laundry room was a huge bonus for me because I was able to go home with a suitcase of clean clothes! And I know no one wants to do laundry on vacation but you won’t want to do it when you get home either and unpacking clean clothes was the best! Not only that but you can pack less because you can just wash what you want to wear again. We each had our own bathroom with tons of counter space! A must for me! You can check out the suite options and floor plans here.
Pools + Beaches
Paradise is literally just a few feet from your room! The pools are amazing. There are a few. I relaxed by the infinity pool with my pineapple drink in hand but also spent some time at the “fun” pool sliding down the water slide with all the kids. There’s a waterfall, water slide, play area and so much more! There are also several hot tubs with waterfalls hidden in nooks around the pools that are so relaxing!
We spent time on the beach too! The actual beach area is quite small but it’s really all you need. I highly recommend grabbing a snorkel and checking out all the fish! A video on that coming soon! We had a blast in the ocean! They have paddle boarding and a few other activities where you can rent by the day.
Food + Drink
With your own full kitchen that overlooks beautiful Maui, it’s nice to be able to make your own meals. We went grocery shopping and tried to stock the kitchen with healthy snacking options.
It’s always fun to eat out and there are several options on the property and the food is legit. Duke’s Beach House is an authentic Hawaiian dining experience and pays homage to the restaurant’s namesake, legendary Hawaiian surfer Duke Kahanamoku. I had the salad with grilled chicken and avocado with my pineapple drink and they both were delicious! My favorite part is that they serve you while you’re lying out by the pool! Great service! There is also the Aina Gourmet Market that has groceries, plus a full coffee bar and deli case of pastries, prepared salads, and snacks including hot panini sandwiches and “zappers” for healthy grab ‘n go meals. More on their dining options here.
