Our Stay at the stunning Calabash Cove in St.Lucia
Where to begin…wow. St. Lucia is a spectacular island. I’d rank it in the top 3 trips of all time. It’s the number one honeymoon destination and I can totally see why. My husband and I were totally immersed in the vibes of St. Lucia we didn’t want to leave.
After a quick flight from Atlanta to St.Luica we hopped in our transport to drive from the South side of the island to the North. The North has sunset views that set over the calm Caribbean Sea. Our driver was so knowledgable and was really a joy to ride with. He was so friendly. If you get the opportunity, make sure to stop at the Dennery lookout point and for some creole bread!
We checked into Calabash Cove Resort & Spa, a boutique hotel in St.Luica. If you want to stay in a unique and authentic hotel on the island that celebrates St.Lucia, I would recommend Calabash Cove. As soon as you pull up the view takes your breath away. The hotel compliments the natural beauty of the island and blends in seamlessly. The hotel lobby is open air so as soon as you step out of the taxi you can see straight through to the ocean. After picking our jaws up off the ground, we were handed a welcome cocktail and shown to our cottage.
What it’s like staying at Calabash Cove in Saint Lucia
Hotel + Rooms
The hotel was a dream. At full capacity the hotel only holds 22 guests so you never feel crowded. It’s adult only vibe really sets the mood for Calabash Cove. We talked to everyone that was staying there at one point or another and everyone had raving reviews. Regardless of what room type they were staying in, they had an incredible view.
The Calabash Cove Water’s Edge Cottages are the perfect beachfront rentals for tropical ease and luxury. We stayed in cottage 6 which I would highly recommend. It has direct beach access right outside your door and your own private plunge pool. The lanai is huge with an area to lay out, an outside table to work or eat, and a hammock where you can relax while watching the sunset. There is also an outdoor shower with views of the ocean and the flowering flamboyant tree! It’s pure bliss. Your bedroom is air conditioned with both US and international outlets, a bath tub, desk, and dresser. The bed is surrounded by a mosquito net just in case. Your bedroom opens to a private sitting area with a fully stocked bar and mini fridge. There is a huge flatscreen TV on the wall but with a room that completely opens up to a spectacular view of the beach you won’t be watching much of that. I love the indoor outdoor living arrangement.
Each cottage offers breathtaking views from across the bay of the gorgeous Caribbean sunset in addition to endless miles of turquoise water. The weather in St. Lucia is unbeatable, from the gentle warm breeze to the near-perfect temperatures year-round. Gaze and laze in the hammocks, sunbathe by the pool or relax on the beaches while you rest your mind.
If you head out of your room and a flight of stairs you’ll reach the infinity pool. Calabash Cove also has swim up rooms which I thought were so neat! You can just walk out of your room and straight into the pool. There is a pool bar that serves the most delicious frozen cocktails. The infinity pool looks out over St.Lucia and that view never gets old. Pure relaxation at it’s finest.
Food + Drink
Calabash Cove is redefining the term all inclusive. Top shelf liquor, an extensive wine list, and 3 course fine dining really set Calabash Cove apart from the rest. With so many food and drink options and different daily specials, you will never get tired of the menu. Calabash Cove is not your typical all inclusive resort. The all-inclusive option was only introduced because of popular demand. It allows for easy budgeting and covers all beverages including premium brand liquor, an in-room bar and wines from a wine list as well as all meals including room service. If you are visiting to mainly relax the all-inclusive is definitely for you. It made the entire stay stress free!
The Windsong is an excellent place to get a taste of St.Lucia; every meal incorporates the West Indies in one way or another. It’s one of the finest Caribbean restaurants in St. Lucia. Much of the menu is also inspired by Asian cuisine and the team of chefs strive to use only local, fresh ingredients in every dish.
This one of a kind Caribbean restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is therefore the perfect place to pop in for a glass of wine and appetizer while enjoying the breathtaking views. But besides fine dinning there is a pool bar with a relaxed pool menu. The swim up bar makes it the perfect place to grab a drink or lunch while laying out or swimming in the infinity pool.
We enjoyed trying the new breakfast dishes every day like the Calabash Egg Benedict; toasted muffins, salted cod, and smoked salmon with poached eggs and lemon hollandaise. One of my favorites was the coconut pancakes with homemade jam and maple syrup. The Saint Lucian breakfast was the most interesting; salt fish, bakes, cucumber salad, boiled egg, green banana and avocado. St.Lucians National Dish is green fig and salt fish. They prepare the green fig (also known as a green banana) by boiling it before serving. It’s very interesting. Everything we ate was delicious. There is something for everyone! I had the tuna steak or the ahi tuna almost every night along side a bottle of wine. It paired perfectly with the stunning unobstructed views of St.Luica. We even had a romantic lobster dinner on the pier overlooking the spectacular sunset.
Activities + Amenities
If you think you might be bored on this gorgeous Caribbean island, think again. There are plenty of things to do in Saint Lucia, including adventurous activities, water sports, boat trips and even scenic helicopter tours, so you can do as much (or as little!) as you wish. The hotel offers a number of water activities on site like kayaking and paddle boarding that you can take out any time. My husband thoroughly enjoyed learning how to paddle board on the calm Caribbean Sea while we were there!
Located directly next to the Sweetwaters infinity pool, Ti Spa is designed to provide you with an exquisite space to relax the mind, rejuvenate the body and indulge the senses. In addition, Calabash Cove Resort and Spa also has a Fitness Centre and Beauty Parlour onsite for all your needs.

From seeing a World Heritage Site to walking under a waterfall. This island checked off so many bucket list experiences for me! I’d recommend taking the Tout Bagay Catamaran Day Tour (8 hours) of the island so you can get the chance to explore by land and by sea. You’ll get to do the sulfur mineral bath at the drive-in volcano, explore Morne Coubaril Plantation Tour and eat lunch, sail to the Pitons, swim under the Torille Waterfall, and snorkel in Marigot Bay! It’s a great way to see and do so many things on the island! Not to mention get out on the water for a day to catch some sun and drink rum punch!
