Our Stay at The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort
If Yellowstone and Soho House had a baby in the middle of the Rhode Island woods—this would be it. Welcome to The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort, a 3,500-acre playground for luxury lovers, adventure seekers, and spa robe connoisseurs. Whether you’re booking a romantic escape, a family weekend, or a group trip, this place is everything.
Here’s the full rundown on our stay.

Where We Stayed: The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort
We stayed in one of the resort’s 2-bedroom, 3-bathroom townhomes, and it felt like having our own rustic-chic lodge in the woods, with all the perks of a five-star resort. The best part? Direct access to a front yard area just steps from the basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts, plus the outdoor pool.
The Preserve has a little something for everyone, from glamping tents, tiny homes, and treehouses (frequently booked for weddings and corporate retreats) to massive 3-bedroom lodges with finished basements, and an adults-only Hilltop Lodge that gives major Real Housewives energy—because it’s literally been rented by RHONJ cast members and celebrity clientele. Casual.

The Bentley Experience
You know you’re somewhere special when a Bentley pulls up with the same casual energy as a golf cart. One morning, we walked outside and—no joke—there was a Bentley parked next to the stables while a 2,300 lb horse casually strutted by. Iconic.
The Preserve offers Bentley chauffeur experiences for guests staying in select accommodations. Whether you’re arriving at dinner in style, getting picked up from the spa, or simply taking a scenic drive through the 3,500-acre property—yes, in a Bentley—it’s a next-level flex.
I’m still trying to talk my husband into getting matching his and hers Bentleys after that weekend. Spoiler alert: He said no. But still… IYKYK.

What to Do
With over 60 activities on the property, boredom doesn’t stand a chance. You could spend a week here and still not do it all.
Horseback Riding
We started the trip with trail rides at the equestrian center. One of the horses is from the Yellowstone family bloodline and earned his owners $50 million before retiring here (you read that right). There’s also the second largest horse on the East Coast—he’s 19 years old and weighs 2,300 lbs. Legends only.
Archery
Colton got a private lesson with Jake (shoutout to The Preserve team—amazing with kids). He started with Nerf bows and moved up to real arrows. Mike and I had a session with Will and went full Katniss—shooting at targets and 3D animal replicas like deer and turkeys. 10/10 recommend.
Spa at OH! Spa
The @ohspaatthepreserve is next-level luxury—easily one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. Think: cold plunge, multiple hot tubs, an outdoor infinity pool, sauna, and steam room… but it was the massage table that really did it for me.
No pillows needed—this table was fully automated, with a built-in bolster that adjusted to my body. The sheets were buttery soft, and the weighted top layer? Pure heaven. They added a warm heat pack to my back, and the face cradle was hands down the most comfortable I’ve ever used (and I get massages twice a month).
This wasn’t just a massage—it was a full-body reset. The level of comfort and detail was unmatched, and the service? Five stars. It’s no surprise they offer spa memberships and are a top spot for bachelorette weekends. The spa alone is a destination.
Hobbit House Dinner
If you don’t book this, you’re doing it wrong. The Maker’s Mark Hobbit House™ is a candlelit, underground stone cottage built into a hillside. We had a four-course grilled dinner paired with bourbon tastings. It felt like stepping into a fairytale—if that fairytale had a sommelier and a smoked ribeye.
Explore the Grounds
There are ATV trails, fly fishing spots, sporting clays, ziplining, yoga in the woods, and more. If you’re into it, The Preserve probably offers it.

The Sporting Shoppe
If retail therapy is your cardio, this is your moment. The Sporting Shoppe is a 30,000-square-foot luxury outfitter right on the property, stocked with high-end gear, elevated outdoor apparel, and everything you didn’t know you needed for your next adventure.
It’s rugged and refined in all the right ways—equal parts country club, field guide, and lifestyle boutique. Whether you’re gearing up for a trail ride or just browsing with a latte in hand (yes, there’s a complimentary café), this spot is worth carving out time for.
Featured Brands You’ll Find:
- Barbour – Iconic waxed jackets and countryside-chic outerwear
- Orvis – Premium fly-fishing gear and classic outdoor apparel
- Tom Beckbe – Southern sporting style, refined and rugged
- Sitka – High-performance hunting and tactical wear
- Dubarry – Luxe equestrian boots and country-living staples
- Kiel James Patrick – New England-inspired accessories and cozy classics
And yes, there’s a complimentary café and lounge area if you want to hang out while someone else tries on boots for an hour (ask me how I know). It’s the kind of shop you go in for “just one thing” and leave with an entire vibe.
