The last time I was in Belize, we stayed at CocoPlum Island which is off the coast of Dangriga. So I was really excited to see more of Belize and be able to explore Placencia while staying at Laru Beya, their sister property. Being inland and staying on the peninsula is really cool. Laru Beya has bicycles you can take out for a spin or you can rent golf carts to explore the peninsula and town. You can also hop on a tour very easily and be at a zipline or waterfall in no time. You’re surrounded by water and it couldn’t be more perfect.
What I loved most about staying at Laru Beya is the distance to the ocean. I’m not one for huge franchised hotel chains where you have to walk a mile to get to the ocean. The closer to the water, the better. There is something about a quiet boutique hotel that sits right on the ocean where everyone knows your name that makes a vacation so special. At Laru Beya you could practically touch it from your balcony. The only thing separating you from the water is a beautifully manicured beach and a row of palm trees. The infinity pool overlooking the water was the perfect escape.
On the beach they had every activity you could think of from paddleboards to a hobby cat as well as beach games like corn hole and even mini-golf. Inside the welcome center, they also have some books and board games. I got an in-room massage while I was there that really helped me relax on my first trip away from baby Colton. The massage therapist was wonderful.
With all-inclusive vacation packages and drinks and frozen cocktails on demand you literally don’t have to make any decisions. You can truly unwind and relax. You’re taken care of from the moment you step on the property at Laru Beya.
Their menu is excellent with a wide variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Laru Beya even serves bar snacks, my favorite time of the day. Starting at 4pm you get yummy apps before dinner. They have room service as well which I always appreciate. And their drink menu does not disappoint. Any tropical cocktail you can think of they have it and it’s even decorated with a fun little fruit animal. They turned my banana into a dolphin and used cherry as the ball in its mouth and they made a crab out of a lime! It’s the little things that get me excited.
Our room was extremely spacious. We had an oceanfront one-bedroom, with a large double sink bathroom, living room area, and a kitchen with a table to eat at. It even had two large TVs and a microwave so we were able to warm up our leftover dinner for a late-night snack. The unit was air-conditioned which made sleeping at night very comfortable. We had a huge balcony with room to layout and even a hammock to lounge in. Wifi was included and their signal strength was strong enough to get work done, even though I tried not to open my computer too much. I was able to face time Colton at home with no problems and I really enjoyed being able to see my sweet boys face!
