Our Family Friendly Vacation at The Chateau Elan Winery & Resort
Looming over the foothills of North Georgia, The Château Élan Winery & Resort can be thought of as a luxury destination with a massive 3,500 acres of lush vineyards, 16th century-styled chateau with a full-service winery and tasting bar, AAA Four-Diamond Inn, European Spa and more.
A New Portrait
With a $25 million renovation in December 2019, the Chateau is a pretty vast and stunning place to explore. That being said, the transformation metamorphosed into a fresh, modernized design yet honoring the existing estate’s 16th century-style charm.
The entire wine tasting room has been updated with beautiful furniture and booths to sit and sip your favorite wine. That’s not the only thing that was renovated either. The entire wine list has been refreshed and revamped so if you haven’t been in awhile be prepared for some new wines. The beautiful camel colored booths have a very modern yet industrial vibe like Restoration Hardwear.
The hotel was also renovated and it reminds me of a modern Grand Central Station. It has an open concept with nods to the Georgia foothills in the lighting and decor. The light is perfection. There are tons of seating areas, a restaurant, and a beautiful open space to roam to the pool and fitness center. They also sourced a lot of the materials for the renovation from Georgia. I love when big resorts locally source materials. You can definitely tell it was very thoughtfully done.
Restaurants
The Château Élan Winery & Resort seems to have just about everything to satisfy your gastronomic cravings. Not only have they increased the number of restaurants, they range from the southern-inspired bar and chophouse — Marc Bar & Restaurant, gourmet American Cuisine buffet at Versailles, Paddy’s Irish Pub, Sarazen’s Bar & Grille, Fleur-de-Lis, and Chateau Elan Culinary Studio where guests can take on cooking classes and culinary events. Versailles does an afternoon tea service that is a must! Paddy’s Irish Pub was actually built in Ireland and shipped here.
Bars and Cafes
Pique your interest with incredible music along with cocktails, wine, and beer in Louis House of Bourbon, Le Petit Cafe, Atrium Bar, Marc Bar, and Le Soleil Pool Bar.
Grape to Glass
Start off nice and slow touring the iconic winery on the east coast. Thankfully, wine stewards guide you through the entire winemaking process. What makes it even better is that after the tour, guests are given the privilege to enjoy a guided tasting of five winemaker-selected wines.
Château Élan Winery produces over 350,000 bottles of wine a year. They are the most awarded winery on the east coast. They do a limited edition wine monthly and can even create custom labels for big events or just one special bottle since it’s done in-house.
An Immersive Experience
Château Élan Winery & Resort offers an amazing array of immersive experiences, like their European-style spa (it’s the only spa destination experience for both men and women in Atlanta), culinary classes where you can learn from their professional chef, a beautiful golf court backdropped by the rolling hills of the Woodlands and the lakes of the resort.
Enchanting Events
Nestled within the panoramic view of the north Georgia foothills and lush vineyards scattering in the 3,500-acre luxury destination, Château Élan Winery & Resort is the perfect backdrop for magical moments and has the most impeccable taste to suit every style and vision.
For Kids
Just because it’s a winery doesn’t mean you can’t bring the family. During the wine tasting, kids will get grape juice and crackers as well. They have a kids hot chocolate bar at the cafe plus lots of holiday activities like breakfast with Santa! There are kids tennis and golf lessons available, bikes, mommy and me cooking classes, kids trivia and bingo, corn hole, and lots of outdoor areas for kids to run and play.
Our Stay
We stayed at the golf villas which can accommodate a family of 6. It’s also pet-friendly which I love. It allowed us to spread out and let Colt baby have his own room They brought us a crib so it worked out perfectly. It’s right on the golf course also so Mike was a huge fan! There is a full kitchen, living, and dining room as well. Each bedroom has a large en suite bathroom as well plus laundry in the villa. To go to the winery or the Inn for dinner you can drive or take the complimentary shuttle. If you want to get away with the entire family, the golf villas definitely allow you to spread out. If you’d rather stay in one of their beautiful hotel rooms that’s on the property and within walking distance to the winery and restaurants, the Inn is the place for you! Don’t worry, room service is still available in the golf villas.
