How to Spend 24 Hours in Chicago

visit chicago

Traveling by train has been eye opening. All the views and the ability to stop off and see so many different places has been incredible! It’s been a blast.  We’ve already gotten to stop off in Salt Lake City and Denver! Chicago was the last stop of our trip and the exhaustion of traveling had truly set in. We still had to make the best of our day in Chicago though.

How we spent 24 hours in Chicago!

– What To Do –

We spent our day in Chicago just walking around and exploring the city. Navy Pier was the absolute prettiest pier I have ever been on.  It was definitely worth the ridiculously long walk to get there. The view of the Chicago sky line was stunning. They even had a giant ferris wheel and tons of other activities around that area!

Another beautiful area was the river walk, which we followed to get to the pier in the first place.  It was a walkway along the river that goes through the city.  Even better, it’s at water level down away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Later on, we made our way to the Magnificent Mile, which is an entire mile of stores and shops.  In the middle, we stumbled upon a farmer’s market, where we found an amazing crepe stand. I got a strawberry banana Nutella one, which was definitely the best decision I made that day.

We ended the day at Millennium Park, which is a huge and beautiful park by the water on the edge of the city. They even had an arena in the center where they hold concerts. I’m sure it would be an amazing atmosphere if there had been a concert that day.

– Where To Eat –

Giordano’s, which has the best deep dish pizza ever. It’s not even deep dish so much as layers of toppings separated by crust. Absolutely delectable. And so cheesy! SO. MUCH. PIZZA!

– Where To Stay –

The Parthenon Hostel that we stayed at was nestled in the middle of a city block. It was a nice building, and we were lucky enough to have our own private room. Even luckier, we were only a short walk away from some amazing restaurants!

Though our time in Chicago was short, I still fell in love with the city just like with all the others.  Have you been to Chicago? Would love to hear your recommendations for when we come back!
