A Weekend Getaway @ The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens
Spring Fever is in the air and that calls for a weekend trip! The temperatures are warming up, the flowers are blooming and the days are longer! HELLO Spring. I’ve missed you. If you’re like me, once the weather starts warming up, I want to take trips. The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens is the perfect weekend getaway. Callaway Gardens is about an hour and a half from Atlanta, so it makes an easy road trip. Less time in the car and more time exploring and relaxing. Win-win!

There’s so much to do at The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens. I don’t even know where to begin. This is a great destination for a girls weekend, a couples escape, or a family trip. I grew up going to Callaway Gardens with my family and neighbors so it was a little nostalgic going back.
That’s me on the far right. Those lime green socks tho. |
I planned a girls weekend getaway with my bestie (aka Ady)! The weekend was finally here! It was a beautiful day which made our road trip even more exciting! We were welcomed with southern hospitality upon checking in. The Lodge and Spa is a quaint lodge in Pine Mountain, GA.
Hotel & Rooms
We settled into our room which overlooked the courtyard and pool. I loved the big bathroom (yes, such a girl thing to notice) and the beds were comfortable with fluffy white pillows.

Activities
First stop, Discovery Center to check out what all they have to offer and to see the Birds of Prey show. The show is only offered a few times a day so check the times, you won’t want to miss this. Ady about gets taken out by a hawk and this video is worth watching.
Next, we took a stroll around Callaway on bikes you can rent from the property. We didn’t do the full property, that would take a few hours but it’s always fun to take a cruise.

Then we headed to the Butterfly Center…
We then explored the Azalea Garden. The colors were so vibrant – corals, pinks, whites. We loved being surrounded by these beauties!
Lastly, we checked out the Meadowlark Garden and Pioneer Log Cabin. It’s crazy to think how simple people once lived. The chairs and beds are so tiny!

And depending on the season, they offer more outdoor activities like fishing to golf to tennis, so be sure to check their website or give them a call.
Even though our exploring was over at Callaway Gardens we were excited for the most important part of the day – Spa Prunifolia back at The Lodge and Spa – and with all our walking, we definitely earned it! Thanks to our Oka-B’s sandals we were able to explore in style and comfort.

Spa Prunifolia was a great experience. Sometimes you leave a massage and you’re disappointed, well you won’t be in this case (ask for Michelle). We both got the Tuscan Garden botanical body treatment. It started with getting exfoliated with rosemary citron sea salt which is designed to stimulate the circulator system. Then got into a shower with 6 jets to get the scrub off, which was so relaxing. After that, my shower seems so boring. A warm towel was waiting for me when I got out of the shower which was such a nice touch. It was really the small details that made this massage even better like the warm towel that was rolled under your neck, an eye cover, a warm massage bed, and the softest sheets (they were microfiber but oh so soft, I felt like I was crawling into the most amazing silk sheets).
Overall, the massage was really amazing! The spa has sauna rooms to take advantage of also. If you live in the area or if you’re staying at The Lodge and Spa, I’d highly recommend getting a treatment.
We ended the night with room service again, because how can we get ready and function after being all relaxed.
Thanks to The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens for a great weekend! And you better go and make reservations now, spring time is the perfect time to visit with all the flowers in bloom!
