3 Favorite Things To Do On Oahu
Aloha! Today I’m so excited to be here sharing my top 3 favorite things to do on Oahu. Before we start, let’s cover the basics. Oahu is the third largest in the chain of Hawaiian Islands and is home to the state’s capital city of Honolulu. It’s also home to Pearl Harbor, where the Japanese attacked the United States during World War II, Diamond Head Crater and the Dole Pineapple Plantation. When most people think of Hawaii, they think about Oahu. That’s not to say the other islands aren’t lovely (they most definitely are!) but many dream about the skyscraper high waves on Oahu’s fabled North Shore or the pristine sands of Waikiki Beach. I’m lucky to call this island home!
Now, on to my favorites…
Top 3 Things to do in Oahu, Hawaii
1. Watching the sunset at Ko Olina
There’s nothing quite like sipping on a Mai Tai as the sun sinks below the horizon, it never gets old! Grabbing a Mai Tai from Monkeypod Kitchen in Ko’Olina (made with their famous lilikoi whipped topping) and sinking into the sand is always a highlight when we have visitors, but let’s be honest, I never need an excuse! Mother Nature sure knows how to paint the sky here and it doesn’t hurt to see palm trees swaying in the foreground.
Psst! Save up to 30% on hotels in Hawaii!
2. A catamaran ride in Waikiki
I love being on the water, so it’s no surprise that this 90 minute sail is among my favorite activities. Several catamaran tours are available that leave from Waikiki Beach and tool around the coastal waterways, offering spectacular views of the skyline as well as refreshing beverages (adult and non-alcholic). It’s truly an activity that anyone, at any age, can enjoy and Groupon regularly offers deals. I’ve lived here 5 years and this is still an activity I say “yes!” to whenever anyone invites me.
3. Have an acai bowl
I’m an eater, so when it comes to the best places to eat on Oahu, I’ve got you covered…and then some! There is nothing more refreshing than an acai bowl made to order with all your favorite toppings on a hot Hawaiian day. Typically acai bowls have an acai berry frozen blend as a base and are topped with sliced apple bananas, strawberries, granola and honey. That said, most places offer additional toppings like bee pollen, fresh fruit and cacao nibs. My favorite place to go is Haleiwa Bowls on the North Shore, but you can find a good bowl nearly everywhere.
This is just a small taste of all the amazing food, drinks and hotspots that Oahu has to offer. Thankfully, I have the Ultimate Activity List For Oahu over on my blog for anyone who might be visiting or considering a trip! It covers where to stay, what to eat, what to do, where to spend time and so much more. I even included a special section for historical sites if you’re a history nerd like me!
Mahalo to the VBG Team for having me today – that means “thank you” here in Hawaii! I love being apart of the #VGBsquad!
