Third Trimester Bumpdate

Welcome to the third-trimester bumpdate! Lately, I’m just feeling HUGE. Waddling from place to place. I went on as many trips as possible right before my cut off but I’m currently grounded in Atlanta until Baby Meschke comes since I’m 8 months pregnant right now.

Babymoon / Travel

Mike and I had a great time traveling for our babymoon adventures. We went to Curacao, Aruba, and Nevis to celebrate our babymoon. We also visited a few places in Florida but that was more for my Birthday week! My doctor cleared us to go and said it was fine. I know most people are worried about the Zika virus but there are very few cases now a day. Just look up the chart of the country to see the number.

I took precautions by checking with my doctor, wearing bug spray (deet/deep woods/ lemon eucalyptus insect repellent spray), wearing long sleeves in the evening and not going out at dusk. Also, one thing I was super happy about was that each resort sprayed for bugs and mosquitos regularly so I didn’t get bit once. I also geared my vacations towards the beach so I could relax by the ocean. I didn’t go to any dense jungle areas or inland too much.

Baby Meschke

The baby is kicking and moving like crazy! He rolls, kicks, moves from side to side and up and down, I mean he does it all. What I call jelly bean dances that are super fast and then ninja warrior moves that are these strong kicks. Neither of which feels good. It’s the weirdest feeling in the world. Like when you touch your belly button. Sometimes he presses way out on one side of my stomach only and the pressure is painful. If it’s not that, he’s usually jumping on my bladder.

Even though it doesn’t feel good it makes me feel safe and secure knowing he’s alive and moving in there. Sometimes when he presses my stomach I can feel him or his little feet and that part is pretty cool. My doctor says it’s a good thing he’s so active so I’m just going to trust her on that one. In the meantime, I pray for his health and happiness every day.

Good news is, the baby’s room is finally coming together. It’s so hard to make decisions. Because things are expensive, you want to pick things that will last and that he can use for multiple years. I did things a tad differently but more on that later! I’ll be doing a full blog post on the nursery.

How I’m Feeling

My belly has really grown and rounded out these last two months. The weight gain has been pretty steady and I’m swollen just about everywhere. My wedding ring doesn’t want to fit anymore, neither do my shoes, and I’m finding less and less clothes that fit. There are also a lot of body changes going on that I’m having to get used to.

Sleeping has been the hardest for me. I don’t know if it’s the anxiety since we’re so close or if it’s because I’m just so uncomfortable that it’s hard to get to sleep. Even when I do get to sleep I wake up about every few hours to use the restroom. It’s nonstop. Since I’ve had acid reflux lately, I sleep on about 4 pillows stacked up at an angle to try to prevent it but I’m finally taking meds for that and they’ve helped a ton. Unfortunately not getting a full rem cycle of sleep makes me super tired during the day, like a rollercoaster of energy.

I also noticed that I had extreme fatigue and have been having a hard time catching my breath so I requested to get my blood work done to test a few things. My thyroid is in check still, which is great, but I learned I’m anemic so I’ve been put on supplements. Hopefully, they’ll bring my energy (and oxygen) back soon. I had no idea my prenatals didn’t have iron in them. Whoops.

All in all, there are only a few more weeks left and then we get to meet Baby Meschke! Someone pinch me! Mike and I are super pumped to welcome him to the world!
