My Stay at The Placencia Resort in Belize
I’m a huge fan of Belize. I’ve been about 5 times this year and love it. I stayed in Placencia at The Placencia Resort. When I saw The Placencia on HGTV I knew I had to visit. They’re updating each room with plans to be completed in 2020, so expect new, fresh, and updated rooms when you go! They have one of the largest pools in Placencia with a picture-perfect swing and a beautiful private beach. Take a dip or simply lay by the pool for a perfect day of relaxing. Utilize the complimentary kayaks, paddleboards, and other beach toys for a day of fun in the sun.
The Resort
The Placencia Resort is situated on the beautiful Maya Beach, just a short golf cart ride from the quaint village of Placencia and all the activities Belize has to offer. The Placencia Resort is perfectly located for access to both jungle and ocean adventures.
The Placencia is a PADI 5-Star Dive Resort. SCUBA is their specialty, but the resort is perfectly situated for easy access to jungle adventures, ancient Maya sites, ocean adventures (don’t forget about the fishing!), and the #1 tour in Placencia, the Ranguana Tropical Island Experience.

Rooms
The Placencia Resort truly offers accommodations for everyone. From a simple hotel room to an entire villa with kitchen and living space, they have what you need to feel at home in Belize. Traveling as a group? Check out the Two Bedroom and Three Bedroom Villas. Traveling as a couple? They have multiple suites to choose from.
I stayed in the master suite and it was extremely spacious. There was a large living space, dining room, full kitchen, and giant panoramic balcony that overlooked the ocean and the pool, plus a separate bedroom and bath with two sinks and plenty of counter space. The suite also had air conditioning which is definitely worth mentioning.
Food + Drinks
Do not skip breakfast at The Placencia Resort. The Belizian breakfast is hands down the best breakfast out there. The Placencia offers room service and some amazing poolside tropical drinks (like the best) but don’t forget about their restaurant!
Capriccio Restaurant
Enjoy beautiful beach views from the dining room and bar at the Capriccio Restaurant, the only air-conditioned restaurant on the peninsula.
Farm-to-table cuisine takes traditional Italian dishes and blends them with a uniquely Belizean touch. Every ingredient comes directly from the sea or from local farms straight to your table, ensuring the highest level of fresh, authentic cuisine. Capriccio is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily and offers classic meals that even the pickiest eaters will enjoy. Stay late night for signature cocktails and lively conversations at the Capriccio bar.
The Palm Terrace
Enjoy all that the Capriccio has to offer from the outdoor Palm Terrace. Dine beachside with the same menu and a more casual outdoor atmosphere. You’ll love relaxing on the terrace as you enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Azure Pool Bar
It wouldn’t be the best beach resort in Placencia without a swim-up bar! Azure Pool Bar is open all day long and offers delicious drinks and light bites poolside. You won’t even have to leave the water to order or enjoy. It’s no wonder everyone loves the pool at The Placencia. Don’t leave without trying the resort’s signature drink, the Ginger My Lime.

Step outside to unwind on the white sand beach. Spend the day at the beach and work on your tan with sun loungers (chaise lounges) or relax in the shade with umbrellas. At The Placencia Resort, pamper yourself with a treatment at the full-service spa or have fun in the sun with activities like kayaking and volleyball.
Unwind with a drink at one of the resort’s three bars, an overwater bar, and a swim-up bar.
Pool + Beach
With a private beach and the largest pool in Placencia, you can’t go wrong. The pool has different depth levels, in pool lounge chairs, a swing, and a swim-up bar. What more could you ask for?
The beach is just steps from your front door, totally private, with tons of free water activities. There’s also a marina and a long dock with a bar at the end! My personal favorite was watching the pelicans dive for fish from my balcony.
The Placencia Marina
The Placencia Marina located in Southern Belize is the only Super Yacht Destination Marina between Mexico and Roatan and is the only Marina in Belize able to berth yachts with up to a 16’ draft.
Private Flights
The Placencia offers charter flights and helicopter services if needed. Note that charter flights come into the Placencia airstrip, located 10 miles south of the marina with complimentary van pickup and drop-off for all guests and crew for arrival and departure. The helicopter flight from Belize city lands directly at the hotel, adjacent to the marina.
