The Ultimate Scottsdale, Arizona City Guide
Ok, so this is officially my very first travel/blog post! Yay! However, I will admit it is far overdue and I have been kicking myself for not journaling my 5 years of extensive travel sooner! So, without further ado, it would only be fitting that I start my very first post about my recent girl getaway in one of my most favorite cities, Scottsdale, AZ!
There are SO many reasons to love this town. Whether you’re the outdoorsy type and wanting to conquer Camelback, or looking to seriously veg-out by the pool at one of the MANY resorts in Scottsdale – there is something to satisfy whatever your little heart desires! As for me, I gathered up my best girlfriends to kick-off my 30th Birthday month…(yes, I will be celebrating all month long!) and we were on a mission to do just that.
We loved our pool-house we rented through Airbnb which was centrally located to the lively bar scene and hip restaurants of Old Town Scottsdale but also a quick drive to Camelback Mountain…which was a must-do on our list! Upon arrival we stopped by the local Safeway to stock up the fridge for the weekend [read: LOTS of champs, rosé, Tito’s, Pinot Noir…pizza…and of course plenty of avocados and Dave’s Bread! -If you haven’t had this bread you’re missing out!]
Now, let’s talk hiking for a second. If you’re like me, I am always up for a challenge but I will say, hiking with your besties is ALWAYS more fun! And let’s be honest, that view at the top will give you an epic IG and FB post! After our 2HR hike up Camelback we had a brunch ressie at the AMAZING Montauk Restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale. Do yourself a serious favor and order the breakfast burrito and Greyhound cocktail! (Bonus! No guilt after burning off all those calories hiking!)
When it comes to looking for a dinner spot in Scottsdale, look no further than The Mission. You basically can go ahead and chalk this up as Mexican food nervana. With fresh made tableside guacamole and endless tacos this place is an absolute must.
Below are some of my additional travel, hiking and restaurant recommendations to make your next visit to Scottsdale a memorable one!
Grocery stores:
Safeway and Fry — they sell liquor inside so no need for an extra trip to the liquor store (unless you need ginger beer for your Moscow Mules like me..you will need to go to Total Wine)
Camelback Mountain:
If going on the weekend.. get there before 9am. It gets crowded and parking can be a challenge.
Make sure you park at either Echo Canyon Trail or Cholla Trail depending on the difficultly level you’re looking for. (Echo is more advanced..but do-able)
Montauk Restaurant + Lounge:
Hamptons Vibe with incredible food and refreshing/fresh-squeezed fruit cocktails
The Mission:
Best tacos and fresh made tableside guacamole in town..if not the state!
The Wasted Grain:
If you’re looking for a vibrant, fun, breezy bar (with those fun garage doors) great cocktails and live music this is your spot! Located in Old Town Scottsdale, it is one of the best!
Would love for you to follow me on my travels across the country. I fly over 125,000 miles a year and have been to all 48 states…just need Hawaii and Alaska to cross off. I will be traveling to Singapore in a few months and will be documenting my travels via Instragam (alipatt10) and in May I will be traveling to Sligo/Dublin Ireland.
I was sorority sisters with Ady in college (ROLL TIDE) and just adore her!
Yay for my first post!! Thank you VGB for this opportunity to document my travels!
