Get to know your personal playground, Resorts World Bimini in The Bahamas

If you watch any reality show ever, then you know where the spot to go this year is… BIMINI! It’s a must. Bimini is a little island off the coast of  Miami that’s part of the Bahamas. They call it the gateway to the Bahamas because it’s the first Bahamas island you get to. For all my US readers, it’s the perfect weekend getaway because it’s so close to Miami. You could even make it a day trip if you don’t have the full weekend. It’s a great spot to relax and disconnect for just the right amout of time when you need it! Just minutes off the coast of South Florida, you’ll discover the meaning of Bimini Bliss.

Transportation

Getting to Bimini

Bimini is the closest Caribbean island to the U.S. coast, making it so easy to slip away for a weekend getaway. Because it’s so close you can get there quickly and inexpensively. There are several different ways to visit Bimini. Fly by seaplane or airplane for stunning views of the island, or sail by ferry or your own personal boat for endless ocean views. Sail only 50 nautical miles from the coast of South Florida with your own personal vessel and dock at The Resorts World Bimini Marina.

Alternatively, the ferry is around $50 and takes about 2 hours. I’ve been on a few ferries but none internationally. Because you’re traveling internationally you must take your passport along with your ticket, go through security at the port and board when you’re called. If you have larger luggage or even a carry on size they will check it for you when you board. When you get off you’ll go through customs and grab your luggage. It’s like getting on an airplane at the airport but on a much smaller scale.

You can also take a sea plane (the most fun), or fly Bahamas Air. Direct and connecting flights are available from Florida’s main hubs: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Melbourne. Or fly direct from the New York City area in Newark. The flights are obviously much faster at around 20-40 minutes. One thing to note is the airport in South Bimini is very small as you can imagine and does not have air conditioning so bring a portable fan. I’d recommend sitting in front of the doors. The sea plane is convenient because you can get picked up or dropped off by the resort but for the Bahamas Air flight you’ll need to take a water taxi from the resort to South Bimini where you’ll hop in a van to the airport for check in.

Getting around Bimini

As far as transportation goes, getting around the island is one of my favorites. You get to explore the island by golf cart! I’m all about that golf cart life! You can rent a golf cart from Resorts World Bimini or at the dock where you get off the ferry. Bimini is pretty small so it’s super easy. And don’t worry about getting lost because there is just one main road that goes from one tip of the island to the other. So it’s a blast to explore!

With the largest marina complex in the Bahamas, Resorts World Bimini is the center of the Sport Fishing Capital of the World. It’s truly no wonder Travel Channel named Resorts World Bimini Destination of the Month. I can totally see why it’s known as your personal playground.

The Hilton at Resorts World Bimini offers a variety of elegant guest rooms and suites. Each spacious accommodation features 1 king or 2 queen-sized beds, floor to ceiling windows, large modern bathrooms, and balconies where you can relax and take in the surrounding beauty.

The first thing I did after opening the door to our hotel room was run out to the balcony. There really isn’t anything I love more than a good view. The rooms are spacious enough to spread out and get comfortable. It’s really all in the details and one thing that cannot go without mentioning is the pull out luggage rack. It was on rollers so it rolled in nice and tight with your suitcase but if you needed something you could pull it out just like a dresser drawer. So neat! There was plenty of counter space all around the room with multiple outlets including the bathroom. Something that’s really important for someone that brings a ton of camera gear and accessories. Big bonus! At night, I melted into the bed. The sheets and pillows did not disappoint. I was beyond comfortable during my stay at Resorts World Bimini!

Food + Drink

Fresh ingredients and detailed craftsmanship come together to produce exceptional cuisine. There are four diverse fine dining venues that are designed to cater to all tastes, offering a wide selection of dishes from around the world.

Taste the flavors of the island and a wide selection of dishes at The Tides. Indulge in prime aged steak and fresh seafood at Sabor. Feast on Asian specialties curated by Top Chef winner Hung Huynh at The Sushi Bar. Give your palate a taste of luxury at any of our fine dining venues. Or pair fresh seafood with handcrafted cocktails at the Lobby Bar.

Take your pick from our wide variety of casual dining venues. Whether you’re looking for a laidback meal, a caffeine break, a tasty snack, or a Bahamian drink, there’s a venue designed just for you. My husbands favorite was definitely the wings at the sports bar!

If you’re lounging poolside, enjoy light bites and the best drinks at Oasis swim-up bar, Monkey Business, or The Beach Club. Indulge at the Healing Hole for grilled Bahamian favorites in an open-air setting. If you’re craving something lighter, enjoy paninis, gourmet pizzas, and freshly brewed coffee at the essential snack spot, Amicci’s.
Mike and I headed to the rooftop adults only pool to take in the views and cool off. There were these amazing in pool dining tables that I loved. Being able to sit at a table and keep my feet in the pool while having my favorite frozen drink was the best of both worlds. If you saw my Instagram stories or highlights you know I had the best Miami vice and mudslide ever. Props to the bartenders. We also had the grilled shrimp that were next level and these chicken alfredo fries. You guys…the food…delectable. I am beyond impressed with their menu, presentation, creativity, and how delicious everything was. Seriously, so good! My husband is currently thinking of how to recreate the fries at home. They were that good!

Pools + Beaches

Bimini’s beauty is defined by its stunning turquoise waters.  Miles of white sand beaches scattered with conch shells surround the island, inviting you to explore Bimini’s stunning coastline. Bimini has some blue ass water y’all! It’s this crazy bright teal color in some areas that almost looks over saturated but it’s real life! Being surrounded by the most beautiful water is so relaxing. There are several beaches inside the Resorts World Bimini so you have plenty of room to spread out, enjoy the beach, or rent anything you need. They have beach chairs and umbrellas, water bikes, water hammocks, banana boats, jet ski’s, paddle boards, glass bottom kayaks, and so much more! Unwind in ultimate bliss at Resorts World Bimini’s Paradise Beach, or take your golf cart to any of the island’s secluded beaches for a day spent in pure relaxation.

If you prefer, choose to let your days melt into nights at any of Resorts World Bimini’s three scenic pools. Slip in and enjoy the beauty of Bimini from your own aquatic oasis. Spend your days lounging at any of the three distinct swimming pools. Slip into the refreshing waters of Sabor’s large, family-friendly pool and Jacuzzi. Soak up the sun in the ground floor lagoon style pool. Or relax in the adults-only rooftop infinity pool, offering stunning views of the turquoise horizon.

The ground floor lagoon pool spans across the length of the resort, giving you a close up view of the Mega Yacht Marina and all the luxurious vessels that pass through the bay.

Find the perfect setting for some alone time at the adults-only rooftop infinity pool. Located on the fifth floor of the resort, this stunning pool area offers some awe inspiring panoramic views of Bimini Bay.

Activities

There are so many activities to do in Bimini! Resorts World Bimini offers the most amazing excursions! Immerse yourself in Bimini’s natural wonders with a variety of excursions. Jump into Bimini’s clear waters and uncover the mysteries of sunken ships, swim with wild dolphins, or dive with sharks in the wild. That’s right, in the wild. No cages, no tanks, no nothing. Straight up in the wild. I love animals more than anything and I’m all for animal rights. I don’t believe in the swim with dolphin experiences where they’re trained and kept in small tanks. These animals are free and you’re free to visit them out in the ocean! How amazing is that!

Embark on a guided Jet Ski Tour along Bimini’s stunning coast. Trek through the jungle and discover legendary landmarks and hidden beaches. Resorts World Bimini’s excursions take you on the adventure of a lifetime. With so much to choose from what will you do first? Head out for a day of fishing, swim, scuba, or snorkel with dolphins, stingrays, or sharks, or visit the Sapona Shipwreck?

The S.S. Sapona ran aground over 80 years ago. This legendary vessel once served as a rum runner’s ship during the Prohibition Era. Sitting in only 15 feet of water, the Sapona is the perfect family-friendly snorkel adventure of a lifetime! My husband and the group we were with got out to swim around the shipwreck. There is even a ladder that they climbed up so they could jump off the top. (Video is on my IG highlights) Remember this shipwreck is hella old so please please be careful! The water was a tad rocky that day so I passed but maybe next time I’ll give it a try.
