Why We Love The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee
I’ve stayed at luxury resorts all over the world, but there’s something incredibly special about finding one that’s practically in your own backyard.
The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds sits on 30 acres of shoreline along beautiful Lake Oconee and is one of the only true luxury lakefront resorts in Georgia. The setting is peaceful, secluded, and surrounded by nature, yet still close enough for an easy weekend road trip from Atlanta.
The moment we pulled up to valet, it felt like we’d left everyday life behind.
Instead of traffic and schedules, we were greeted with towering trees, Adirondack chairs overlooking the water, fire pits, families riding bikes, and the calm sounds of the lake.
It’s one of those places that immediately slows your pace. The first words out of Colton’s mouth were “wow, this is peaceful,” and Michael agreed that by saying, “it’s so tranquil here!”

The Location: A Luxury Escape Just Outside Atlanta
One of my favorite things about this resort is how incredibly accessible it is.
Located in Greensboro, Georgia, The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds is only about 90 minutes from Atlanta, making it one of the easiest luxury weekend getaways in the Southeast.
You don’t need flights. You don’t need passports. You don’t need a week off work (unless you want to, wink wink). Instead, you can leave after breakfast and relax by the lake before lunch. For busy families like ours, that’s priceless.
Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, celebrating a birthday, escaping for a golf weekend, or simply looking for a relaxing family vacation, this location couldn’t be more convenient.
And because the resort is tucked inside the Reynolds Lake Oconee community, everything feels incredibly private and peaceful.

Our Club Level Rooms
During our stay, we experienced both a Club Level King Room and a Club Level Double Queen Room, each featuring a private balcony overlooking Lake Oconee and the resort’s stunning infinity pool.
Every morning started with a latte from the club lounge on the balcony while watching boats cruise across the lake. It was honestly one of my favorite parts of the trip. The rooms perfectly balance classic Ritz-Carlton luxury with a warm lakeside feel.
Think:
- Comfortable seating areas
- Beautiful natural wood finishes
- Spacious marble bathrooms
- Plush bedding
- Thoughtful luxury touches throughout
The housekeeping also deserves its own mention. After returning from an afternoon at the lake, I came back to find my room completely refreshed. Even my makeup, which I’d admittedly left all over the bathroom counter, had been carefully organized and neatly arranged. It’s those little thoughtful details that separate a truly luxurious resort from everywhere else. Turndown service was equally impressive, and every interaction with the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed.

First Impressions
One thing you’ll notice immediately is that this doesn’t feel like a traditional hotel. It feels like a luxury lake house. Families are outside swinging or lounging on the hammocks. Kids are running across the lawn. Parents are relaxing in Adirondack chairs overlooking the water. There are so many little hidden places to relax in nature.
Guests gather around the fire pits every evening.
There are even two adorable resident welcome dogs that greet guests, a huge hit with Colton.
Before we’d even unpacked our bags, we were already talking about when we’d come back. Little did we know, Colton had already decided. By the end of the trip, he asked if we could celebrate his 7th birthday here because he wanted to rent one of the double-decker pontoon boats with the slide. Honestly? I don’t blame him. I was already looking at my calendar before we checked out.

Should You Book Club Level?
If you’re debating whether to upgrade your room…
My answer is simple:
Absolutely. Especially if you’re traveling as a family.
In fact, Club Level completely changed our experience, and I’d have a hard time booking this resort any other way.
Let’s dive into everything included with Club Level, including the food, concierge, drinks, desserts, and why I think it’s one of the best values for families.
When we come back (and we definitely will), I wouldn’t book this resort any other way.
The Ritz-Carlton refers to Club Level as a “hotel within a hotel,” and after spending three nights here, I completely understand why. Yes, the food is wonderful. Yes, the cocktails are great. But that’s not actually why I’d book it again. For me, it was the convenience.
As a mom, I don’t want to spend my vacation figuring out where everyone’s going to eat next. I want to spend my vacation making memories. Club Level let us do exactly that.
After a long month and a half on the road for baseball tournaments, practicing every day, making sure 12 kids on the team were taken care of (including the coaches), and being team mom, I needed a break. Club Level let me have that break. I was able to turn my brain off to the point where I didn’t have to make any more decisions or be in charge of feeding my family.
Instead of stopping our day every few hours to go to a restaurant, make reservations, change, or sit down and eat, we’d simply pop into the Club Lounge, grab whatever sounded good, and head right back outside. It wasn’t a big production. Just easy.
Whether we were heading to the lake, jumping in the pool, or catching the Venetian Water Taxi, food was never something we had to plan around or worry about. Plus, there are options for everyone, vegetarians included.
It was always there. Wine for the hot tub, check. Coffee in the morning, check. Sweat treats, check. Club level was like having my own personal chef and kitchen at my disposal.
And that made our vacation feel effortless.

What Is Included with Club Level?
Club Level guests have exclusive access to a private lounge that’s open throughout the day and includes five daily culinary presentations.
During your stay, you’ll enjoy:
- Full breakfast
- Lunch
- Afternoon snacks
- Evening hors d’oeuvres
- Desserts every evening
Throughout the day, you’ll also find:
- Coffee
- Tea
- Soft drinks (hello DDP)
- Juice
- Specialty beverages
- Wine
- Beer
- Cocktails (21+)
- Fresh snacks available whenever you need them
One of my favorite little details?
Every day featured a different specialty lemonade. During our stay, we enjoyed both a fresh peach lemonade and a strawberry lemonade, and they were so refreshing after spending the afternoon outside.
Little touches like that made Club Level feel even more special.
Why Club Level Is Perfect for Families
This is where Club Level completely won me over.
If you’ve ever traveled with kids, you know someone is always hungry. One minute, they’re swimming. The next minute, they’re asking for chips. Then fruit. Then another drink. Then dessert.
Instead of packing snacks or interrupting our day to find food, we simply stopped by the Club Lounge whenever we needed a quick bite.
Fruit. Cupcakes. Cookies. Cheese. Crackers. Chips. Sandwiches. Drinks. Whatever we needed was already waiting for us.
Within minutes, we were back outside making memories. That flexibility is something you don’t fully appreciate until you’re experiencing it. It’s one of those luxury touches that actually make your vacation feel more relaxing.
My Favorite Part? More Time Together.
One thing I noticed throughout our stay was that we spent so much less time thinking about logistics.
Instead of asking,
“Where should we eat?”
We were asking,
“Should we head back to the lake?”
or
“Want to go to the game room or the family pool?”
That’s exactly how vacation should feel.

The Pools
The water is really the heart of this resort.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet adults-only escape or an afternoon of splashing around with kids, there’s a pool for everyone.
The resort features:
- An incredible infinity pool overlooking Lake Oconee
- A dedicated adults-only pool (well, for kids over 12)
- A family pool
- An indoor pool for year-round enjoyment
My favorite was the infinite pool that overlooked Lake Oconee, but Colton’s favorite was, hands down, the family pool. We even saw a celeb there! Colton loved the interactive water features, including bubbling fountains, sprinklers, bucket dumps, bridges, and splash zones that kept him entertained for hours. Bonus, he was able to make a ton of new friends to the point that walking around the resort, I was hearing kids yell COLTON!
It was one of those places where parents could relax while kids stayed busy and entertained. Great for only children!

Life on Lake Oconee
While the pools are beautiful, the lake is really what makes this resort unforgettable. Every morning we’d wake up, step onto our balcony overlooking the water, and immediately start planning which adventure we’d do first. Our absolute favorite experience was taking the Venetian Water Taxi around the lake. It’s such a unique experience and gives you an entirely different perspective of the property.
We also loved swimming in the lake and spending time on the floating water trampolines.
There are so many additional activities available too, including:
- Kayaks
- Paddleboards
- Boat rentals
- Fishing
- Marina access
- Pontoon rentals
In fact, before we even checked out, Colton had already decided he wanted to celebrate his birthday here next year so he could rent one of the double-decker pontoon boats with the giant slide.
I think that’s about the best review a seven-year-old can give.

Ritz Kids & Family Activities
One thing The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds does exceptionally well is making luxury feel family-friendly.
This isn’t a resort where kids are simply accommodated. They’re celebrated. Throughout the property, you’ll find activities designed specifically for families, including:
- Ritz Kids programming
- Playground
- Mini golf
- Basketball
- Ping pong
- Cornhole
- Lawn games
- Evening s’mores around the fire pit
- Nature-inspired activities
- Babysitting services for parents looking to enjoy a date night or spa treatment
One of our favorite evenings was ending the day around the fire pit, making s’mores together. Sometimes it’s the simplest moments that become your favorite vacation memories. Between the lake, pools, Ritz Kids programming, and all of the outdoor activities, there was never a moment when Colton asked, “What should we do next?” There was always something waiting around the corner.
Dining at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee
Whether you’re looking for an upscale steak dinner, a casual lunch by the pool, handcrafted cocktails, or breakfast with a lake view, The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds offers several dining options throughout the resort.
One thing I’ll mention upfront is that we found ourselves spending a lot of time in the Club Lounge simply because it was so convenient. Between breakfast, snacks, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and drinks, we rarely felt the need to leave the resort, or even leave Club Level, for every meal.
That said, there are plenty of great dining options available depending on the type of experience you’re looking for.
Georgia’s Bistro
Georgia’s Bistro is the resort’s signature restaurant, serving elevated Southern cuisine with beautiful views of Lake Oconee. The menu changes seasonally and features locally sourced ingredients, fresh seafood, premium steaks, and Southern-inspired dishes.
It’s a great choice for breakfast or dinner if you’re looking for a more refined dining experience.

Amore del Lago
Craving Italian? Amore del Lago serves handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, fresh salads, and classic Italian favorites in a relaxed setting that’s perfect for families.
It’s a great option after spending the afternoon on the lake.
Gaby’s by the Lake
If you’re spending the day at the pool, Gaby’s is the perfect place to grab lunch without ever leaving the water. Expect burgers, sandwiches, tacos, fresh salads, frozen drinks, and cocktails—all with beautiful lake views.
It’s exactly the kind of casual lakeside dining you want during a summer vacation.
The Sand Bar
Located near the lake, The Sand Bar is ideal for grabbing a refreshing drink or light bite between water activities.
Whether you’ve been paddleboarding, swimming, or simply relaxing by the marina, it’s an easy place to recharge before heading back out.

In-Room Dining
Sometimes vacation means staying in your robe a little longer.
If you’d rather enjoy breakfast on your balcony overlooking the lake or a relaxing dinner in your room after a long day outside, in-room dining is also available.
The Spa: Time to Slow Down
One thing I loved about this property is that while there are endless family activities, there are just as many opportunities for adults to completely unwind.
The Spa at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds is a destination in itself. Offering massages, facials, body treatments, salon services, steam rooms, and tranquil relaxation spaces, it’s the perfect place to recharge while overlooking the peaceful surroundings of Lake Oconee.
If you’re traveling as a couple or taking advantage of the babysitting services through Ritz Kids, I’d absolutely recommend carving out time for a treatment.
Even if you don’t book a service, simply walking through the spa reminds you to slow down.
Championship Golf
Golfers probably already know Reynolds Lake Oconee as one of the premier golf destinations in the country. The resort offers access to several award-winning championship golf courses designed by some of the biggest names in golf, making it a bucket-list destination for players of every skill level.
My husband, Mike, was already planning his return before we even checked out. His take? “You could spend an entire weekend golfing here and still want to come back.”
If your family has golfers, this is one of those rare resorts where everyone wins. While the golfers are out on the course, everyone else can enjoy the spa, pools, lake, shopping, or Club Level.
Shopping at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds
I always love browsing resort shops, and these were some of my favorites. The property has two boutiques offering everything from Ritz-Carlton apparel and golf gear to locally inspired gifts and Lake Oconee souvenirs.
We ended up bringing home:
- A Ritz-Carlton t-shirt for Colton and myself
- Three hats
- An RC water bottle (that Colton already took from me)
- Golf apparel
- Souvenirs to remember the trip
One of the cutest things? The gift shop also sells stuffed versions of the resort’s two resident welcome dogs, which quickly became one of Colton’s favorite discoveries.

Hidden Gem: The Speakeasy
Even though we didn’t get a chance to visit during this stay, one feature that really stood out was the resort’s hidden speakeasy. It’s one of those unexpected touches that make the property feel even more unique.
Whether you’re visiting for a couple’s getaway, a girls’ weekend, or simply looking for a craft cocktail after dinner, it’s another reason this resort appeals to more than just families.
It’s definitely at the top of my list for our next visit.

Final Thoughts: Should You Book The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee?
Without hesitation—yes.
What makes this resort so special isn’t just the beautiful lake views or luxurious accommodations. It’s how effortlessly it brings everyone together.
Kids have endless adventures waiting around every corner.
Parents can actually relax.
Golfers have world-class courses.
Couples can enjoy the spa, cocktails, and peaceful adults-only spaces.
And if you’re staying on Club Level, everything becomes even easier.
As a travel baseball family, we don’t always have time for long vacations. Sometimes all we need is a place where we can disconnect, recharge, and spend uninterrupted time together.
The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds gave us exactly that and more. I’d call that a successful family vacation. This is one resort I’ll happily recommend again and again.
