The Stay Home Self Care Kit

The ultimate self care kit with everything you need for an at home spa day. If you want to practice self care at home, here are the top products you need to set up the perfect home spa!

During the pandemic, self-care became more and more trendy. It was something that has been on my to-do list for a while, but not being able to go anywhere made it more of a reality. I have adapted a Self Care Sunday that takes place EVERY Sunday night usually during Sunday Night Baseball. Self-care is different for everybody, but this is my routine.

Shower or Bath

I know this sounds like an obvious one but being a mom to a wild toddler leaves little time for mom. A hot shower usually starts Self Care Sunday, I’ll do a hair mask along with a body scrub. I am kinda obsessive about making sure my scrubs, body wash, and lotion all match. I mostly use Sol de Janerio products, but if I am traveling I’ll grab whatever from the trial section. Target is amazing with its selection!

If taking a epsom salt bubble bath is your thing by all means. Just make sure you have a glass of your favorite wine, light a candle, and grab my favorite bath cushion to help you relax. This is my favorite way to unwind.

Skin Care Routine

After the shower, I’ll wash my face. I have several products that I rotate between depending on my mood. When washing my face I only do the cleanser and tone if I plan on doing masks. If I don’t have any masks, then I’ll do my regular skincare routine. Which consists of cleanser toner, serum, spot treatment, eye cream, face oil with gua sha, and night cream. For my lips, I’ll do a scrub, mask, nighttime lip treatment. This is the routine that I found that works for me. I have seen different ones where moisturizer is used after the face oil. I recommend messing around with the order to see what works best for your skin. We are all different.

Mask

If I am doing a mask, which I usually am I’ll start with the all-over mask. I prefer the sheet masks over the cream, mud, or clay masks. While I have the sheet mask, I’ll massage my face with the jade roller. I like to think it’s a dual purpose by having the sheet mask on then with the jade roller keeping it in place. I have noticed that I also get the mask on more when I use the roller. I’ll be the first to admit, I was skeptical of the jade roller but I have noticed a difference when using it. Some of the benefits of the jade roller are: improving circulation and lymphatic drainage, improves headaches, TMJ pain, sinus congestion, eye strain, and puffiness.

PRO TIP: I put me in the fridge a few hours before if I want the roller colder.

After my mask, I’ll sometimes do an eye and/or lip mask. I have been quite obsessed with these in the past year. I did find reusable eye masks that fit over the entire eye, but I prefer the ones that go under the eyes. I’ll do the lips and eyes at the same time. I really want to like the lip sheet masks, but they never sit right on my lips. I end up doing a scrub and mask followed up with nighttime chapstick.

Massage Set

I have 2 different sets that I use and it usually depends on my mood. The first one is a face and body massage set that is 3 different sized silicone cups. Full disclosure I haven’t used it on my body just my face, and I was blown away by the results. I noticed my face wasn’t as puffy. The smaller and middle ones are supposed to be used for your face. I start in the middle and work towards either the top or bottom of my ear. The bigger one is for your body. Like I said, I haven’t used it for my body but the reviews are amazing.

The next one I have that I probably use the most is the Sephora Collection Facial Sculpting Set. It came as a trio with a gua sha made from opalite, a rose quartz pressure knot, and grey agate wand. The pressure knob has been my favorite since I have been getting more headaches lately. It’s great to use around the top of your eyebrow and underneath your eye. These are also made with crystals which have so many great benefits themselves. Opalite symbolizes clear thinking and new beginnings. Rose Quartz helps increase blood circulation. It’s also known as the stone of unconditional love. Gray Agate enhances mental function, improves concentration, heals anger and anxiety. Also, I will say this was available during the holidays. If you see one grab it immediately. They sold out so quickly last year.

Conclusion

If you scrolled to the bottom, just to get the list here you go. Masks (Face, Eye, and Lip), Jade Roller, Gua Sha, Facial Massage Set. I got most of mine at Sephora or Ulta. Everything is kept in a bag in the bathroom for easy reach. I am not a beauty expert by any means, this is the order that has worked for me.
