How To Get The Most Out Of Your Vacation

Going on vacation is a fabulous way to reduce stress and rejuvenate your soul after a busy work week, a year or even a month! We could all use a vacation after these past 18 months. The key component of using a vacation to relax would be to find a way to get the most out of your vacation. Without feeling like you need a vacation from your vacation.

I want to share some of the best ways to get the most out of your next vacation. Regardless of where you plan to travel for vacation, these tips will help you enjoy every last minute of your time away from home.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Vacation

Do not Over-schedule

The number one rule to get the most out of your vacation is to not over-schedule. It’s important to have an itinerary in place for your next big vacation, but leave some empty time. These empty time-slots can be used for leisurely activities, wandering around or taking a nap. Over-scheduling a vacation is going to stress you out rather than allowing you the time to relax and reduce stress.

I use to plan every single minute of our trip. There was zero down time until we went to out hotel for the night. It got to be so much for everyone. I wouldn’t really enjoy the vacation because I felt like I already went on the vacation doing all the research and planning. Everyone else felt rushed because we were on a time schedule. Now we pick our top 2 or 3 things that are a must, then we have a list of things that would be fun but not mandatory. If we have time we’ll pick from the list and do those activities.

Take Lots of Photos

Bring along your favorite camera or smartphone to capture photos everywhere you go. While you won’t want to have your eyes on your smartphone at all times, it’s important to have a camera on hand to snap quick photos of your favorite spots during vacation. This will give you a photo memory to look back on when your workdays are stressful at home.

My favorite camera on trips has been the polaroid instax camera.  I’ll take pictures of my favorite places than when I go home I put in a giant picture frame to keep track of them all. Another idea is the garland lights that have clips for the pictures.

Taste the Culture

Another way I’ve been able to get the most out of my vacation time is to taste the different cultures. There are so many food options around the world to experience. Make sure you dine out at a local restaurant that features this vacation destination’s most famous food options.

One of my husbands favorite shows is Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. When we travel he always has a place to visit for food, and they usually don’t disappoint. Their website is also full of great places to search for on your next vacation. Asking a local is never a bad idea. When we went to Tahoe for dinner, we asked our waiter for another food recommendation. We mentioned we wanted something more local and not as well known. He gave us this amazing pizza shop.

Choose a Vacation You Want

Don’t get all caught up in the hype to vacation at the next popular destination. Plan to take your vacation somewhere that you’ll enjoy spending time at. This may be a place with lots of nightlife or lots of relaxation, it all depends on what you’re looking to get out of your next vacation. Don’t let someone else pick your destination!

These are just a few simple ways you can get the most out of your vacation. I highly recommend you use my tips to maximize the chances that you’ll enjoy your vacation to the fullest and get the most experiences from your next travel excursion.
