Our Stay at the $30 million-dollar newly renovated Sheraton Bay Point Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida

Sheraton bay point Panama City beach Florida travel blogger usa travels road trip

When Sheraton Bay Point Resort invited us to come down, I immediately googled where it was located.  I saw it was close to Panama City and my first reaction was “no thank you.” Keep in mind I went to a high school that took Spring Break in PCB so my memories of Panama City were crazy.  However, after I looked online at the property and saw the remodeled property, all of the upgrades, activities, and ammenities that were on the site, I was sold and decided to give it a try.  Let me tell you, I was blown away! This resort not only met my expecatations but exceeded them!

Sheraton Bay Point is like it’s own little secluded family friendly island around a luxurious golf course. I also took a ride to PCB, that’s Panama City Beach for non locals, and I was pleasantly surprised! I have so many memories there and I loved every minute of driving down memory lane. The area has grown, changed, and improved so much.  It was so cute. I can’t wait to go back!

I was very impressed. If you know me, you know bathroom counter space is a must, and the Sheraton Bay Point Resort did not disappoint. The room and bathroom were both spacious. I loved waking up there and spending my mornings on the balcony overlooking the bay. I was so impressed with Sheraton Bay Point because on our arrival we were greeted with complimentary cocktails during our turn down service. I made the orange dreamcicle and definitely took the recipe home it was so good!

Beaches

The Sheraton Bay Point offers access to the best beaches… sans crowds.  With an enviable tranquil location surrounded by breathtaking coastal marsh vistas.

There are three distinct beach experiences:

Private Bay Beach

Just follow the pier down to the sandy shores of the Private Bay Beach where hammocks and chaise lounges in between the palms welcome quiet relaxation. The sand volleyball court encourages sunny play and the calm waters are ideal for kayaking and paddle boarding on exclusive YOLO Boards. Hammocks Beach Bar serves cold cocktails and beachside WIFI allows you to stay as connected if you want.

Although I’m not so good at it, we definitely enjoyed our time paddle boarding! But more on that under the activity section. The beach is steps away from Pelican’s Beach Bar and has the amazing seating areas along the boardwalk to take in the views or watch for dolphins. The private beach is the perfect place to relax.

Shell Island

The property’s exclusive Bay Point Lady offers multiple scheduled boat trips daily through St. Andrews Bay to the island. We were lucky enough to be escorted by dolphins on our ride over. Shell island is a seven mile stretch of pristine untouched white sandy beaches and rolling sand dunes. It was remarkable and so peaceful, it felt like we were the only people on the beach.

The Bay Point Lady provides beach umbrellas, chairs and snorkel gear for rent as well as snacks and drinks for purchase, offering first-class service on the island.

Panama City Beach

Just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Panama City Beach, Sheraton Bay Point Resort offers shuttle service to the main beach for anyone wanting to be in the thick of the action.

Pools

I love that you’re able to relax poolside and enjoy breathtaking bay views. There are three property pools, with one designated specifically for families and one for adults.  Cash me outside…how bout that! But seriously, during our stay you could find me lounging by the pool with a frozen cocktail in my hand most days. The beautifully serene pool overlooked the bay and those incredible views made it hard to leave. It was such a nice escape. Definitely one of my favorite places to lounge.

Food + Drink

The food on site at the Sheraton Bay Point Resort will not disappoint. I was able to meet the culinary mastermind executive chef Shane Miller and not only is he an amazing chef, he’s quite the character. He’d be hilarious to watch on TV. Shane is mainly known for his winning appearances on Food Network’s® Cutthroat Kitchen and Guy’s Grocery Games. Whether you’re visiting one of the resorts restaurants on site or dining in your room, you’re in for a treat! I tried every single restaurant and of course the in room dining, and I don’t have one bad thing to say. The food and drinks especially, who doesn’t love a frozen cocktail, were spectacular! There are over 6 places to grab a bite on site!

Tides

A coastally casual fine dining experience, Tides invites with bold flavors and tantalizing views of the surrounding St. Andrews Bay. Signature dishes feature the flavors of Chef Shane’s culinary upbringing in the Louisiana Bayou – such as the favorite Gumbo Ya-Ya and Gulf White Shrimp & Grits.

All-day Dining Options – 6:30 a.m.-11:00 p.m.

Flip Flops Pool Bar

With its ‘no shirt, no shoes, no problem’ vibe, the open-air Flip Flops pool bar serves up casual pool side flavors for the whole family, including customized craft cocktails and local brews. With TVs playing the sport of the season and a breathtaking Bay view, Flip Flops is the ideal perch for happy hour hangouts. From pool side chaise lounges, guests enjoy on-call buttons to summons snacks and cocktails from the bar.

Lunch, Dinner & Snacks Daily – 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

Pelican’s

An open air beach bar at the end of the pier, Pelican’s beckons guests and locals alike with favorite beach drinks, fresh tastes and live music, overlooking St. Andrews Bay. Surrounded on three sides by water, Pelican’s can also be accessed via boat. This was my favorite spot to dine because you can often catch a glimpse of dolphins playing in the water! Not to mention they have amazing frozen cocktails and the freshest fish tacos I’ve ever had! Everything was so delicous!

Opened Seasonally – 11:00 a.m. – When the party ends!

Room Service

The room service menu was the best because you have access to anything you want at the tip of your finger. Just my style! We called up a bottle of wine or two and maaaayyyybe the highly recommended chocolate caramel cake for dessert! It’s a must! Robes and room service curled up in bed with a view of the bay is my idea of hotel living at it’s finest!

Activities

This could take some time because there are so many on site activities.  The resort is a vacation within itself. I would never leave given the opportunity so trust me when I say you will not get bored during your stay. We took on the adventure of paddle boarding with YOLO off Private Bay Beach at the end of the pier. It’s pretty secluded so no one really saw how many times I fell off the paddleboard!  There are also additional water sports rental activities available on-property that include pontoon boats and jet ski rentals from the pier, and nearby marina access to deep sea fishing charters and SCUBA/snorkeling the Florida Panhandle Shipwreck Trail and other dive sites just off the Gulf of Mexico shores access.

There are direct Airlift Markets into Panama City Beach (Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport) – Click here for link to direct flight listings (note, some of these flights are seasonal): Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, and St. Louis are currently available. Not only that but you can take a tour of PCB with a direct pick up point from the lawn at the Sheraton Bay Point Resort! Just steps from the main lobby.  I’m a huge fan of exploring by helicopter! It’s a great way to see everything in a short amount of time. We rode with Panhandle Helicopter and with options as low as $40 there is no excuse not to go!

Fancy a game of tennis? Suzanne Kramer is the tennis pro and if you’re a member of ALTA, Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association, you get an exclusive rate.  There are a ton of trails and paths to run along the water, take a nice stroll, or bike ride at sunset. Theres also a fully equipped 24 hour fitness center that overlooks the pool and bay.  It has floor to ceiling windows and with a great view like that, it’s easy to get in a quick workout.
I spent my extra time relaxing in the spa. There is a private pool that you have access to on your spa day as well as a steam room and sauna.  The waterfall hot tub is also a must. I got a deep tissue massage and then relaxed in the spa for a bit longer because it was so wonderful! If you’re going with your husband or significant other send them to the golf course while you head to the spa! That’s exactly what I did. The golf course is amazing, according to my husband.  He was especially excited he got to try out the GolfBoard.  Have you ever heard of one of those? So cool! Their course is 36 holes of championship golf, including the only Nicklaus Design course in Northwest Florida.

We had an amazing time at the newly renovated Sheraton Bay Point Resort! I would definitely recommend booking this resort for your Florida vacation! Bonus, it’s extremely family friendly but if that’s not your thing it’s the perfect romantic getaway also. My husband and I had a blast. It reminds me of the vacations I went on with my family as a kid growing up. I cherish those memories and I know you’ll love your stay here!
