The hotel is located within walking distance to many of the main attractions like Princess St. and Edinburgh Castle or you can get a cab going just about anywhere for only a few pounds. Easy to find and right on the bus and trolly line, the mix of modern design with many of the buildings original features creates a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating from the minute you arrive. At the front desk, the bar and restaurant everyone was welcoming, happy to answer questions and offer recommendations.

Their are several different room types to choose from, perfect for every budget and need. We loved staying in the Junior Suite which had a great view of New Town. There’s even a reading nook area perfect for studying a map to figure out your game plan for seeing all Edinburgh has to offer!

The bathroom is even stocked with all the Aveda products you would ever need, including a shave kit! You can treat yourself in the lovely bathroom then slip into your comfy robe and slippers (the best part of any hotel room right??!)

Food + Drinks

After a long day of exploring, sometimes you just want to enjoy a meal in and relax. The Hotel Indigo Edinburgh on York Place restaurant, The Turquoise Thistle, is perfect just for that. The menu has a wide range of local dishes mixed with a little flair like Haggis Nachos. But you can definitely get the classics like Scottish Salmon or Fish and Chips. If you’re looking a cocktail they have a great variety and several Scotch Whisky’s you can try too.

Our time in Edinburgh was filled with strolling down the picturesque streets, seeing amazing sights and trying unique local cuisine. The Hotel Indigo Edinburgh on York Place was a great home away from home that provided the perfect place to rest and recharge in the midst of an amazing city. The VGB squad definitely recommends paying them a visit when you pass through Edinburgh!
