Why You Need To Visit The Mayan Riviera

Mayan Riviera travel blogger

The Mayan Riviera is a place filled with an abundance of nature, turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, delicious Mexican cuisine, and friendly locals. Not to mention one of the top expat destinations of the year! One specific city I would like to mention is Playa del Carmen. Playa del Carmen was once one of the fasted growing cities in Latin America- and might still be. With all the different activities to do for all ages, this makes the perfect vacation spot and actually one of the best places to retire.

You have everything you need right at your fingertips including:

  •   Talented Doctors and Medicare Facilities
  •   Five Star Dental Clinics
  •   Top Chefs and Restaurants in Mexico
  •   Cheap and Safe Car Rentals
  •   Great Public Transportation
  •   Cenotes upon Cenotes
  •   Easy Access To Cancun International Airport
  •   Wal-Mart, Starbucks, McDonalds

It’s hard to sum up a place that is so wonderful, when you need to experience it on your own. I forgot to mention the Mayan Ruins scattered out amongst the Mayan Riviera is completely mind blowing. You need to spend at least one day when you visit this area to tour around the ruins and learn about the Mayan culture. I would recommend visiting the Tulum Ruins and capture that picture that is surfacing all over the internet when you hear the word Tulum. Once your friends and family see that, that will sell them on the Mayan Riviera.

The Doctors and Dentists in the Mayan Riviera are trained and educated all over the world. A lot of them go to school in America and come over and provide their services here in Mexico. Why- because Mexico is the place to be! Chefs from Italy, Greece, Canada and the States, followed by some other lovely countries; come to Mexico and create some incredible dishes to accompany the different ethnicities here in Mexico. So if you are not fond of eating tacos and burritos, do not worry! There are many pasta and pizza places too!

In Playa del Carmen, there are many different ways to get around. One way is by ADO bus, which takes you to and from Cancun International Airport. This bus also takes you to Tulum and a few other popular destinations. You can find all their destinations on their website. You can also use the local buses to commute around the city or rent a vehicle from one of the trusted rental agencies in Playa del Carmen. These vehicles are lightly used, just like the used kias in Chicago area, but they are still in great condition and will get you from point A to point B.

If you have never heard of the word cenote; a cenote is a natural sinkhole that is filled with water. This water is than made into a big swimming pool. You can dive in the cenotes and snorkeling is recommended. Be sure to bring your underwater camera along to capture all the beautiful types of fish.

If you are someone who likes familiar things, do not worry! There is a Wal-Mart, Starbucks and many things comparable to your country of residence. If you cannot find something familiar, you will find something new you love instead.
