5 Must Sees in Seville Spain

5-must-sees-in-seville

Seville is the capitol of the Andalucia region, which means it’s full of amazing things to see and do! Whether you are spending a week or a few days, this beautiful city has so much to offer.

Here are some of my favorite sights we experienced!

Flamenco Dance

Experience a Flamenco Dance

You simply can not visit Seville and skip experiencing a Flamenco show. As the birthplace of this one of a kind performance there are plenty of options to choose from. Most places have performances throughout the day and night. Based on a recommendation from someone at our hostel we stopped by the Museo del Baile Flamenco. Check out my thoughts on what staying at a hostel is really like here. The show was amazing and actually difficult to snag a picture from because the dancers moved so quickly and intensely. Experiencing this passionate performance is definitely a must see in Seville!

Plaza de Espana

Parque de Maria Luisa and Plaza de Espana

Take a stroll along the water and end up at Parque de Maria Luisa. Here you will find so much beauty including Plaza de Espana. Let me just say, prepare to have your mind blown. The amount of tile work and detail in this massive area complete with a moat floating through is truly breathtaking.

Gardens of the Alcazar in Seville

Alcazar of Seville

This royal palace in Seville is the oldest palace still in use in all of Europe. From the stunning architecture and beautiful gardens it’s easy to get lost for hours exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Game of Thrones fans, does this look familiar? It should as the Alcazar and gardens were featured in scenes from Dorn.

Seville Cathedral

Seville Cathedral

My second favorite site we visited in Seville (Plaza de Espana being #1) was definitely the cathedral. Back when construction first began, the builders wanted future generations to think they were crazy for building such a massive cathedral. I would say mission accomplished. The cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus. The high ceilings, ornate alter and views from the Giralda Bell tower are sights you won’t soon forget.

Metropol Parasol

Las Setas

Metropol Parasol

Commonly known as Las Setas “The Mushrooms” are definitely a must see. The largest wooden structure in the world houses an indoor market and cafe. The views from the top are amazing and you can enjoy them with a snack or beverage from the cafe while you take in everything.

My time in Seville was definitely some of the best I spent in Spain. I highly recommend including several days exploring all there is to see and do in Seville! Want to see more pictures from my travels across Spain? Check out 20 dope pictures to inspire you to visit Spain here.
