Yoga4Her / Atlanta Women’s Foundation Yogathon

In the last year and a half my life has changed quit a bit; new job, new apartment with a new room mate and I adopted a puppy from the Atlanta Humane Society. One thing that has changed my life for the better bringing balance and enriching my overall well being is practicing Yoga.

I’m definitely a night owl, so getting up early to exercise before work was never something I thought I could maintain regularly. But when a friend asked me to join her for hot yoga one morning I thought why not give it a chance. After that first session, I felt energized, focused and rejuvenated ready to take on my day whatever it might bring. Since then I have enjoyed exploring different styles of yogas at different studios all over Atlanta, always feeling the same sense of joy after a session as I did that first time.

I’m always looking for ways to get involved in my community and share passions with others, so when I heard about the Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s Yogathon I was immediately interested. Atlanta Women’s Foundation is a non-profit with a mission to be a catalyst in ending generational poverty in and around Atlanta. In Atlanta alone over 320,000 women and girls wake up in poverty everyday. Nearly half of all teens in Atlanta don’t graduate from high school.

On Saturday May 21, 2016 hundreds will gather in Chastain Park for a daylong fundraising event with the mission to end poverty and change the lives of those in and around Atlanta. Yogathon will bring together instructors, yogis and anyone wanting to make a difference in the lives of people in their community for a mind and body event to raise funds and awareness for women in poverty. Here is everything you will need to know prior to the event:

  • The event will last from 7AM-2PM with check in time at 7AM in Chastain Horse Park
  • Admission costs: $81 for a Yogathon day pass
  • Host a tribe: Host 10 friends for $1500
    • Host 10 friends with 10 Yogathon Admission Passes (includes preferred mat placement, name recognition at the event and 2 invitations to the appreciation party with headlining instructor on Friday, May 20)

I’m looking forward to an amazing day featuring Yoga instructor Seane Corne keynoting the event. Seane has been featured in 30+ magazines, including Oprah, and is known for her activism and inspirational teaching. For more information on all the teachers who will be instructing and to register visit atlantawomen.org/news-events/yogathon

Look forward to seeing you there as we join the Atlanta Women’s Foundation for a day of Yoga to raise funds and awareness to end poverty!

I’ve partnered with Everywhere Agency in helping them support the non-profit, Atlanta Women’s Foundation in the work they do to alleviate poverty for women and girls in Atlanta. Through their sponsorship of the foundation, they covered my entry fee to this event. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
